Blog Post #4

Throughout this big project, I have obviously learned many things. Some of the things I have learned the this project are I learned the three Newtons. Laws, and I always learned really big physics vocabulary. What I liked about this project is how our team worked well together to create what we have now. What I do differently if I could change my project is think about the design before hand because we had to really rush the design at the near the end, and come in the mornings, lunches, and after schools. Overall for this project, I feel we did a great job.

Physics Projects 2014 - Blog Post #3

So far for our project, we are pretty confident about it because we have gotten to the minimum amount of transitions, so we know we are caught up and doing well. Inertia has effected our project because as we were trying to build our camel back, the marble wanted to continue going the same direction it was going, so it wouldn't work. We had to space apart the hills. What has been frustrating again was the loop. We had taken off the loop because every class it would have to be refixed because we would find it broken, so we replaced the loop with a track, which happened to be safer because we didn't have a track before. What we found has been working well every class was the beginning structure. It would never fail, and we like how we used cardboard rolls instead of just using a track, so that it would gain its kinetic energy, in other words, speed up.

Physics Project Reflection #2

As we have been working on our physics project, we came upon problems with the tape. As we build the roller coaster, it stays held up well, but when we come back and check it the next day, it's basically apart. So we just baught more tape, including double sided tape, which helped us. Also with the tape, the duct tape we use to put the pipes together causes friction which slows down the marble so that the marble can't go through the loop. I feel like we are ahead of our class because we are always bringing in materials and are on task, and we try to put things together carefully. A frustration we've had is getting the loop to work every time we come back to check our project. What has been cool is when it actually works because the way we structured it is pretty cool and the way the marble works through the whole thing I think is impressive.
